DMZ Dark Water in 2026: Still Drowning, Still Looting

Complete DMZ Dark Water with a Rebreather, Cartel Warehouse Key, and Cartel Laptop extraction—our quick Redacted mission guide.

I have a confession: I am the kind of player who reads 'find a Rebreather' and immediately turns into a maritime raccoon. DMZ's Dark Water mission for the Redacted faction is an old Season 3 assignment, but in 2026 my completionist brain still refuses to let it go. It is the fourth Tier 2 mission for Redacted, and it asks for three things: find a Rebreather, loot the Cartel Warehouse Key from a sunken ship in Al Mazrah, and extract the Cartel Laptop from the Cartel Warehouse. Do that, and you get the Lost Room 403 Key plus 7,500 XP. Who doesn't love a mission that starts as a scavenger hunt and ends as a swimming lesson with guns?

If you are also poking at legacy DMZ content in 2026—or just feeling nostalgic—here is how I get through Dark Water without turning my backpack into an aquarium.

Step 1: Find a Rebreather 🫧 (Or, Become Friends With Hospitals)

The first objective is the easiest: find a Rebreather. This field upgrade was added with Season 3, and it is basically a permission slip to breathe underwater while the game quietly asks, 'Are you sure about this?' I usually find Rebreathers in medical cabinets, which makes hospitals my favorite pit stop. Loot every medical cabinet you see, check hospital rooms, and do not leave without one. The mission only counts the first part once you have it, and trust me, you will need it later. Is there anything more relaxing than searching a sunken ship while your oxygen bar quietly judges you? No. No there is not.

Step 2: Loot the Cartel Warehouse Key From the Easternmost Sunken Ship

Next, head to Al Mazrah's southern side. The ship you want is the easternmost sunken ship, southwest of Al Sariff Bay. I know, 'easternmost' and 'southwest' in the same sentence sounds like a GPS having a crisis, but the map knows what it means. Keep your Rebreather. You cannot retrieve the key without it, unless you enjoy the drowning animation as a lifestyle.

Swim out from the mainland, dive underwater, and find the opening on the hull of the ship. Once inside, take a left. Yes, a left. Use the Rebreather so you do not drown, then proceed to the far end of the ship. The Cartel Warehouse Key is sitting on a table. Loot it, and the second objective is done. I always do a tiny victory wiggle here, which is hard underwater but emotionally necessary.

Step 3: Find and Extract the Cartel Laptop From the Cartel Warehouse

Now comes the final stage. The Cartel Warehouse is on the southern side of Hafid Port. Unlock it with the key you just looted. Inside, find the Cartel Laptop. It is on a shelving unit toward the back of the warehouse. Then all that is left is to exfil with the laptop in your backpack. Easy, right? Well, 'easy' in DMZ usually means 'please do not get ambushed by a squad of players who treat Hafid Port like their personal living room.' But the objective itself is simple.

My Dark Water Checklist ✅

Step Objective Where What I Tell Myself
1 Find a Rebreather Medical cabinets, hospitals This is fine. I am a prepared adult.
2 Loot the Cartel Warehouse Key Easternmost sunken ship, southwest of Al Sariff Bay Left. Go left. No, the other left.
3 Find and extract the Cartel Laptop Cartel Warehouse, southern Hafid Port Do not forget to actually exfil.

Rewards: Lost Room 403 Key and 7,500 XP. Worth it? For a completionist, absolutely. For my blood pressure, maybe not.

A Few 2026 Notes From a Slightly Older DMZ Player

Dark Water was originally a Season 3 Redacted mission, and it is similar in spirit to the White Lotus mission Unearthed. If you are playing DMZ in 2026, the mission logic is still the same: Rebreather first, key second, laptop third, exfil last. The biggest danger is not the objectives; it is other players, bad timing, and my own habit of saying 'I'll just grab one more thing' while the gas closes in. Do yourself a favor and bring a friend if you can. Two players can watch different angles, and one of you can be the designated 'please stop looting and help me' person.

So, is Dark Water a nightmare? Not really. It is a scavenger hunt with a swimming pool, a key, and a laptop that somehow matters. In 2026, I still enjoy it—mostly because I finally know where to go. If you see a player surface near Hafid Port clutching a laptop and looking deeply relieved, say hello. That might be me. And if I drown, please lie and tell everyone I was doing it for the XP.
