How I Completed Shadow Company Intel in Warzone 2 DMZ

Master the Shadow Company Intel mission in Warzone 2 DMZ: grab the laptop from Ashika Island Research Center's second floor and exfil safely.

I still remember my first attempt at Shadow Company Intel in Warzone 2 DMZ. I dropped into Ashika Island with nothing but a throwing knife and a head full of doubt. How hard could it be to grab a laptop and leave? As it turned out, the hardest part was not the laptop itself, but surviving the Research Center long enough to reach it.

The Shadow Company Intel mission is one of the Tier 1 tasks offered by the White Lotus faction. If you are working your way through the post-wipe progression and want to unlock the Tier 1 Story Mission Look Out, you need to complete at least five Tier 1 White Lotus missions. In my case, Shadow Company Intel was the fifth one. It only has two objectives, so it sounds simple on paper: take the Shadow Company Laptop from the Ashika Island Research Center and extract with the laptop. Completing both steps rewards you with a Contraband ISO Hemlock and 5,000 XP. That ISO Hemlock alone was enough motivation for me to push through the bots, the locked doors, and the occasional enemy squad.

Finding the Shadow Company Laptop

I will not sugarcoat it: the Research Center can be a nightmare if you do not know exactly where to look. The building sits on the west side of Town Center on Ashika Island. Sometimes the main entrance is open, but on other infils it is locked behind a Stronghold Keycard. If you spawn near the port or the farms, your best bet is to rotate toward Town Center from the west, using the shoreline and low walls as cover. When I first went in, I made the mistake of pushing through the front door without clearing the upper floors, and I paid for it.

Once you reach the Research Center, head up to the second floor. That is where the laptop waits for you. Specifically, it is on a desk just outside the locked research lab. I remember creeping up the stairs, hearing the muffled footsteps of AI guards above me. The laptop was sitting there in plain sight, but that did not make it safe. If the lab is locked and you do not have a keycard, you can still grab the laptop because it is outside the locked door. That is the key detail so many players miss: you do not need to unlock the lab itself. You just need to interact with the desk.

After looting the laptop, your first objective is secured. But do not celebrate yet. The moment you pick it up, the AI seems to get a sixth sense. I remember hearing a shotgun blast from the stairwell just as I pocketed the laptop. If you are solo like I was, bring a silenced close-range weapon. Check your corners. Do not linger.

Extracting the Shadow Company Laptop

The second objective is straightforward, but extraction on Ashika Island is never a guarantee. With the laptop in your backpack, you need to head to the nearest extraction point and successfully exfil. On my successful run, the nearest exfil was across the creek near the gas station, and of course a squad was already camping the chopper. I had to circle around through the rocks and call in a different extraction to avoid the fight.

The key lesson here is that the laptop is a mission item, not a regular loot item. You need to keep it in your backpack through the whole exfil. If you go down and someone revives you, the laptop should still be there, but if you get fully eliminated, the mission fails and you have to start over. So play patient. Call the chopper, hide behind cover, and only board when the area is clear. One time I got greedy and tried to rush the ramp with five seconds left; a sniper from the hill ended that run instantly.

What I Wish I Knew Before Starting

Looking back, there are a few things I would tell a newer player attempting Shadow Company Intel. First, complete other White Lotus Tier 1 missions first, not because this one is hard, but because it builds map knowledge. The more you understand Ashika Island's flow, the easier it is to predict where enemies will be around the Research Center. Second, bring a Stronghold Keycard if you have one. The Research Center does not always require it, but having one removes one more variable. Third, use the image in this guide as a visual reference. That desk location outside the locked lab can be confusing in the heat of the moment.

Do I think Shadow Company Intel is the hardest White Lotus mission? Not even close. But is it one of the most satisfying early completions? Absolutely, because it pushes you into Ashika Island's high-traffic area and rewards you with a useful weapon. Once you finish this mission, you are one step closer to unlocking Look Out, and then the real story begins.

Next time you drop into Ashika Island, remember: the laptop is waiting, but so is everyone else. Grab it, move fast, and extract clean.
