Warzone 2 DMZ Excavation Mission: Sniper Note, Trackers, Bunkers
Warzone 2 DMZ Excavation mission guide: find the Sniper Team's Note, collect tracking devices, and complete all three Al Mazrah bunker objectives.
In 2026, DMZ can feel like a museum exhibit with live wiring—old content, still dangerous if touched. For players returning to Warzone 2 DMZ or working through archived Redacted faction progression, the Excavation story mission remains a tidy three-step errand across Al Mazrah. It is the Tier 3 Story Mission for the Redacted faction, and it only appears after a player has cleared 5 of the 6 Tier 3 missions. The payoff is the Shadow Warrior operator skin plus 20,000 XP. The mission is a three-act relay race with a paper baton, a dumpster handoff, and three brick-wall finishes. Players can tackle the bunker entrances in any order, but the first two objectives must be handled first: read the Sniper Team's Note, then loot three tracking devices from the Al Bagra Fortress Dead Drop.

Quick mission snapshot
| Step | Objective | Location |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Find and read the Sniper Team's Note | Law firm building in Al Mazrah City |
| 2 | Take 3 tracking devices | Al Bagra Fortress Dead Drop |
| 3 | Plant 3 tracking devices | Three Al Mazrah bunker entrances |
Step 1: Find and read the Sniper Team's Note
The first stop is the law firm building in Al Mazrah City, the structure that closely resembles Highrise. Players should head to the balcony portion on the right side of the building and look beneath a metal staircase. The Sniper Team's Note sits there, waiting to be picked up. This item has been on Al Mazrah since Season 1, but it did not serve a purpose until the Excavation mission arrived. Picking it up and reading it fulfills the first objective. While in the area, players may also spot a TAQ-56, so it is worth a quick glance before moving on.

Step 2: Take the 3 tracking devices from the Al Bagra Fortress Dead Drop
Next, players need to loot the three tracking devices from the Al Bagra Fortress Dead Drop. This is a familiar dumpster for DMZ veterans, since it also appears in missions such as Train Tracks and Follow Instructions. The Dead Drop is on the eastern portion of Al Bagra Fortress, tucked between two buildings. Opening the dumpster and taking the tracking devices completes the second objective. At this point, the mission shifts from reading and looting to a small planting tour around Al Mazrah.

Step 3: Plant the 3 tracking devices at the bunker entrances
Al Mazrah's bunkers are patient oysters—closed, marked, and waiting for a tracker instead of a pearl. The three entrances are not hard to find once a player knows what to look for: marked brick walls, usually in underground or overlooked spaces. The order does not matter, but the following route is the simplest way to keep the tour organized.
Bunker 1: Al Mazrah City underground parking lot
The first bunker entrance is in the underground parking lot in Al Mazrah City, just west of the law firm building used in Step 1. Once inside the parking lot, players should face east and look for a set of doors leading to a long corridor. They should head down the corridor, progress to the second set of doors, and take the staircase further underground. After descending the first and second flights of stairs, they will encounter a brick wall with a couple of orange markings. That is the bunker entrance. Placing the first tracker there secures mission progress.

Bunker 2: Under the bridge east of Taraq Village
The second bunker entrance is underneath the bridge to the east of Taraq Village. Heading under the bridge reveals an opening on the side that leads toward Al Mazrah City, and that opening contains a small room. The bunker entrance is on the right-hand side of this room, again identified by a marked brick wall. Planting the second tracker there checks off the next piece of the mission.

Bunker 3: Rohan Oil underpass
The third bunker entrance is in the underpass at the center of Rohan Oil, a heavily contested spot guarded by Al Qatala soldiers. Players should head to the section facing the east side of Rohan Oil. There they will find a shutter door that remains slightly open, leaving just enough space to crawl underneath. After crawling through, they will be in a garage section of the underpass. The bunker entrance is on the left-hand side, marked by a brick wall between two shelving units. Placing the third and final tracker completes the Excavation faction mission.

Final tips for a clean completion
-
🧭 Treat the law firm as the anchor point: note first, then the nearby parking-lot bunker.
-
🗑️ Do not skip the dumpster interaction at Al Bagra Fortress; the trackers are the mission's real key.
-
🧱 Look for orange markings or marked brick walls, not glowing objective markers.
-
🚨 Rohan Oil is the riskiest stop, so players should clear or distract Al Qatala guards before crawling under the shutter.
-
🏆 Finishing all three objectives awards the Shadow Warrior operator skin and 20,000 XP.
In 2026, the route still works as a compact tour of Al Mazrah's stranger corners. The mission folds out like a stubborn paper map with three creases—note, dumpster, bunkers—and once each crease is flattened, Excavation is done.
